#2 Project-Based Learning: Student for the Earth

Project Overview:
This activity requires collaboration between young generation and students in junior high school. The youth has role to supervise the student which involved in this program activity. The youth require to split all of students into some groups and all of them require to guide the student to fulfill all of the tasks as explained above.
In the end of the program, the student requires to give report and recommendations. Later, this final report and recommendations (inside of the other task already finished), the next guardian will use it as part of confidential information. The purpose of this task is, to encourage the student about the importance of giving a report and recommendation for the reader and doing research activity in a manner way.
What will students do?
· Foster the plant which was planted by the kindergarten child (further explanation you may check the previous journal).
· Monitoring the collected dry leaves.
· Become a revolutionary cowboy.
· Learn to become a scientist.
How will students present their project? (Present day)
· Present their activities with their teammates.
· Vote for rotational rescue guardian team.
· Inclusivity for the earth.
Standards:
· Intergovernmental Panel On the Climate Change.
· Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Objectives:
· Develop student character building in terms of doing simple research and reporting.
· Understand the process of making compost (eco-fertilizer).
· The mindset of: #FEFE (From Earth For Earth).
Requirements/Task(s):
Task 1 — Segregated the collected dry leaves and chop all of them as small as possible
Project requirements:
· Earth guardian post
· Scissors (chop the leaves)
· Gloves
· The storage box provided in the earth guardian post (code number: #2–1)
Task(s) should the student complete:
Students require to segregate the dry leaves which already been collected by the previous team (#1 Basic level) in the Earth Guardian Post (EG Post). Before doing this task, the student should wear gloves.
The student chops the leaves and put it in the storage box with code numbers: #2–1. After the leaves was chopped as small as possible, then put it properly on the top of wood rack in the EG post.
Remember to put it on the top of the rack for good sun receive.
Task 2 — A revolutionary cowboy: surveying the farm area and collecting cow manure
Project requirements:
· Maps and information books
· Journal books
· Trowel
· Wheel barrow
· Hoe/Shovel
· Farming area
Task(s) should the student complete:
The objective of this task is to visit the farmer’s places (using maps and information books in the EG Post), negotiate to carry the cow manure produced in their farm, and put it in the Earth Guardian Post to be converted as compost.
So, in this session, the student just required to collect as many as possible of cow manure. Put it in the wheelbarrow, and carry it to the Earth Guardian Post.
After arriving at the Earth Guardian Post, the student should put the cow manure in the box with code number: #2–2. Stack it on the bottom, or with code number area: #2-AR-1 and #2-AR-2.
(PS: Those who most collected cow manure will be considered the winner of this task and got some credits from the supervisor).
Task 3— Fill out the daily report and recommendations
Project requirements:
· Tag board
· Trowel
· Journal of the Guardian
Task(s) should the student complete:
After the completion of two (2) tasks above. The student should put the date on the tag board with the format dd/mm; for every cow manure already collected. Also, the student requires to filled their daily report provided in the information box under the title “Journal of the Guardian”. This task will be driven by hands of youth involved in this project.
The objective of this task could vary. One of them is to increase the way to communicate with other members/team (in this case, the report and recommendation written by this team will be used by the next team #3 Advanced — team, to create the compost and distribute it).
(It is very simple to report, you may find the templates of this journal template at the end of this journal).
Outline the steps/plan for your project:
After the students complete all tasks, observations, and daily reports. The student is projected to understand the whole process of planting, and their awareness of climate change through this activity. Here is the highlight of the whole process in intermediate — project-based learning curriculum:
1. Foster the plant which was planted by the kindergarten child.
2. Monitoring the collected dry leaves.
3. Become an adventurer and collector.
4. Learn to become a scientist.
The completion of this project will continue to the 3rd tier of this project-based learning (#3 Advanced — Project-Based Learning).
